Support Notice - Wednesday, February 10, 2010
FIS is providing limited emergency technical and functional support, similar to Winter Recess. We will do our best to keep systems and services running. As we get through this weather related situation, we ask that the FIS Support Portal and PRISM Help Desk be used for emergency situations that greatly disrupt or stop business operations. Please do not call, leave a voice-mail message, or e-mail a FIS staff member directly to initiate a request for service. When requesting service, it is important to provide a telephone number where you can be reached.
Ten Seconds, McIver!
Rick McIver has accepted a position in FIS Technical Services. He will join us as a full-time Systems Administrator effective February 15, 2010. Lenz Company. Rick has several years of experience performing help desk support and managing an Altiris Deployment Solution environment to deploy software packages and Windows desktop images. Rick will be located at 1917 Cathedral of Learning and will report to Anthony DiGregorio.
PRISM TRKS
In January an online time record system was deployed to all full-time and part-time regular classified staff. This new system, PRISM TRKS, is a web-based system that replaced the University’s existing staff paper time record. PRISM TRKS highlights:

PRISM System Single Sign-on
Recently the PRISM System was integrated with the University’s Portal (my.pitt.edu). With this latest enhancement, users no longer need to maintain a separate PRISM password. PRISM now utilizes the University Computing Account username and password. More information is available at www.bc.pitt.edu/prism.
FIS Application News
Ratex, the Book Center’s POS (Point of Sale) system has been upgraded to Visual Ratex. This major upgrade included new software and hardware. Benefits of this upgrade include easier navigation, more efficient information access, multi-store functionality and modern technology.
You may have already noticed the new Surplus Property web site at surplus.pitt.edu. This was the first stage of the Surplus Property automation project. The second stage, completed in December, was an FIS custom-developed inventory and invoicing system used internally by Surplus Property staff. The final stage will result in a custom online system that will include a catalog of all inventory and online ordering for the University community.
Insite, the University’s Asset and Space management system, was upgraded to Insite’s Net-FM. Net-FM is a web-based application that replaces the legacy client-server system. This system is more flexible, includes new and improved functionality and eliminates the extra costs for client licenses.
